how long in advance do we need to apply for the chinese visa before entering?

We will be entering China through Tibet from Kathmandu in mid June. Can we apply in Kathmandu? What documents are required, for the application and the supplement for Tibet? What's the standard fee for a 30 day? Thank you.

If you will visit in mid June, you can start your application now. It can be done in Kathmandu, but you have to get a Tibet Travel Permit as well through a travel agency. Documents for application are: your original passport, application form, photo, round-trip ticket and hotel reservation. Fee is about US$ 40 for a 30-day one.
