Buying train tickets in advance

Hi,
I am planning a trip around China in May/June, and am hoping to travel by train most of the way to be able to see as much as possible. I was wondering, how far in advance can I book train tickets? And can I pick them up from the train station? Or how do I get them?

Hi, Vicki.
According to my traveling experience, Chinese train tickets can be bought 20 days before the departure date.
If you know Chinese well, you can book the tickets through the offical website of the China Railway Station. Then you can get your tickets at the train station directly.
If you cannot use Chinese well, you can ask a tour agency for help. My friend always use TravelChinaGuide to book their train tickets. You can write emails to them at travelchinaguide.com|booking or book on https://www.travelchinaguide.com/china-trains/. Booking through it, you need to book about 25 days before.
As far as I know, they can send the tickets to your hotels directly.
