About:China Holidays & Festivals

If i want to visit Beijing in January 2014, are there any attractions to visit since it is winter?

Are the school and the universities having their vacations during January?

All the attractions are open and can be visit during that time.
The school winter vacationdepends on Chinese New Year and it usually starts two or three weeks before Chinese New Year, so if you go to Beijing on around Jan. 12, the vacation may start.

It does not matter when the vacation is, EVERYTHING in Beijing is open! Don't listen to anyone who tells you it is not. I am living in Beijing, and I just went through Chinese New Year and all the attractions, stores, and all were open even though I was warned so many times that everything would shut down.

You will be fine, but just a warning, Beijing gets really cold in the winter.

How about the universities? Are the university's students having there vacations too at that time? We plan to visit Peking University and Tsinghua University.

The winter vacation may start during the mid Jan. but you can still go to the campuses for visit. Don't worry~
