About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

How does the ailine declare that you want a 72 hour visa free stay?

The instructions says: "For air passengers who are interested to visit Beijing/Shanghai during stopover, they should make sure put forward transit permit requests to the airlines taken in advance, so that the airlines can declare it to the airport customs before landing."

But how do one put forward a transit permit request to the airline? I'm leaving Denmark tomorrow for Beijing and then North Korea 40 hours after entering Beijing. I'm flying with Aeroflot, but they have got no idea on how to declare it to the chinese immigration.

Will it be ok just to turn op in Beijing with the required documents (airline tickets for North Korea, VISA and so on)?

You can tell them when you board the plane and fill out the entry card. I think they should know this, otherwise, you may get trouble to board without a chinese visa. The Immigration officer at Beijing airport will check the boarding pass you arrive on and onward ticket to North Korea, then issue a transit permit for your stay in Beijing.

Hi Mikkel,
I'm doing the same transit in April, going to North Korea. Did everything work well in Beijing with the 72 hour transit without visa policy? I have the Air Koryo eticket at hand and the NK visa in my passport. Would be glad to hear if it worked or if I need to get a last minute chinese visa at the embassy.
