I am going to Hangzhou on 29 sep utl 9 oct 13. Can I easily buy train tickets to shghai during that

time or should i just stay in hangzhou for eleven days. Pls help as I am only aware now that it is very jam during that period?

Well, this period belongs to the Chinese National Holiday. All the train tickets will be in great demand and very hard to get. And the scenic spots will be more crowded than usual. Anyway, if you want, you may try to book the train tickets in advance.
