Considering of your study time in China, you'd better apply for a F visa first. Then you can extend it before it expires. If you want to work in China, you have to apply for a Z visa again.

Hi Andy,

Thanks for the information. Can't we get a one year visa for both work and study? Is there any type for both work and study? Also you mentioned extending it before it expires. Is that something that can be done whilst in China?

Thanks.

No, I don't think so. If you have already applied for a school, they will send you an invitation letter, which includes the information of your study in China, the duration as well. No visa type for both work and study.

If you get a 6 months F visa, you can extend it in China for one more month for tourism.
