How long does it take to reach the nearest point of the great wall of china from SH? What will be the most convenient and cheapest mode of travel.

Hi, you can surely travel from SH to visit the Great Wall. In my opinion, Badaling Great Wall is the most accessible one. From SH, you can take a high-speed train at the local Hongqiao Railway Station. You will arrive at Beijing South Railway Station within about 5.5h. Upon your arrival, you can take subway line 4 at the South Railway Station MTR Station to Xizhimen Station. Then a taxi can take you to Deshengmen in a few minutes. There you can take bus no. 919 to Badaling Great Wall directly. While the high-speed train between may be a little expensive: it costs CNY553 for a second class seat and CNY933 for a first class seat.
