About:China Visa Exemption

we are visiting Shanghai and Tieging 2 diff port, each will stay 1 or 2 day with cruise ship,

We have USA passport, do we need visa with cruise ship during visiting Shanghai and Tienging

Yes, you need a double entry Chinese tourist visa if you will stop in two different ports within China.
