About:China Visa Exemption

Briish citizens visiting China,Sth Korea and Japan next month on a cruise.Do we need any visas?

We will be berthed in Hong Kong overnight on ship.We arrive 8am and leave the next day at 5pm.Max stay in Hong Kong will be 33hrs with an additional stay of 11 hrs 2 days later in Shanghai.We understand new rules allow us 72 hrs without the necessity of a visa. Is that correct ?

No, you need to apply for a single entry Chinese tourist visa in advance if you travel by cruise. The 72 hour visa free transit is for air passengers only.
