72hours Gap?

Hi,

Im a Australian Citizen with an Australian passport. I was told if I was staying within 72 hours in Shanghai or Beijing that I would not require a Visa. Is this correct?

Thanks

Yes, it is true, but this 72 hours visa free policy is for transit passengers only via Shanghai and Beijing airports.
