Affordable Hotels in Xiamen

Hello, me and my daughter are planning to go to XM in May 2013, its our first time and we have very limited budget (hehehe). Any suggestion/s re: comfortable but affordable hotels, and places to go?

For XM, you can spend one to two days to Gulangyu Island. After that, you can spend a day to South Putuo Temple and Xiamen University. Besides, you can also spend one day to Yongding Tulou near the city.
For the hotel, local homestay hotels are highly recommended. Many people choose to live there. I think Ring Island Coast Inn- Blue House is very nice. The price is reasonable.
