register at the embassy

Hi, my husband is from the USA and I`m from Cameroon, we both live here and we want to go and register at the embassy, and start to process my documents so that we could go visit the family in the USA in the summer and come back here for work. What must we do? we are free until the end of February then we start work。 Thanks
