Cruise Ship Crew Member - Visa Requirements

Hello.

I am employed by Princess Cruises as a Safety Advisor and will be visiting China (Hong Kong) on a number of occasions on different vessels during March and April 2013. My movements will be:

Arrive Hong Kong by sea on 21 March 13 on the Sea Princess.
Leave Sea Princess to join the Diamond Princess on 21 March, departing Hong Kong on Diamond Princess.
Return to Hong Kong on the Diamond Princess to depart Hong Kong by air bound for Bali on 09 April 13.

Can you advise which visa I will need please?

Can I also ask the cost and how long it may take for the visa to be issued.

Many thanks,

Kevin

I don't think you will need any visa for your trip in Hk, as you UK passport holders are exempt from visa to Hk for 180 days.

Thank you. What if the ship were to make port calls in Chinese ports other than Hong Kong? I wouldn't need to leave the ship other than for sightseeing if I had some spare time?

If the cruise will make port calls in mainland ports, you need to apply for a tourist/transit or a Crew visa in advance, an entry for a port actually.
