It is difficult and I doubt whether you can do it in the normal way. There are some possibilities you might try:
1 Contact the visa agents that advertise in here and other places and see if any can help you.
2. You can legally work on an F, a business visa, if you are employed overseas or by a business in China funded from overseas. ie you are seconded or supplied on contract and invoiced. However, I think you will only get 1 year at the time. And if the conditions I mentioned are not automatically applicable to your situation it is likely to be difficult to arrange a contract unless the employer is very flexible and really wants you, and of course is not government.
3. A grey area similar to 2, is again thru an agent who will help arrange an F through local contacts: in which case it is not strictly legal to work but many people do ( I have!)
