About:Xinjiang Travel

Changji, Xinjiang

I shall be visiting a friend in the above city. Which is the nearest international air port? If I stay at this persons home what type of visa will be required, at what cost and how should I apply on what form?
how best to get to this destination from London return for two weeks and what are the best days and times for economical travel?

Tourst visa is proper for you. The fee is GBP 30. You should apply for it from the China Visa Application Service Center in London. You can get details here http://www.visaforchina.org/LON_EN/.
From UK, you need to fly to Beijing first and then to Urumchi. Upon reaching, you can hire a taxi to reach local bus station whhere you can find direct buses for Changji. August and September are the best time to visit there.
