i'm Malaysian, do i need visa to visit shanghai for 10 days from UK?

i'm going to Shanghai from UK for 10 days to visit my friend. then i will be flying back to Malaysia from Shanghai, would that be classed as a round trip for my Tourist visa (L) application requirement? Kindly please anyone answer this question. Many thanks.
