China tourist visa from Indonesia

Hi,

I'm a UK citizen and currently traveling in Indonesia. I now intend to travel to China to visit a friend.
I went through a travel agent in Indonesia and they told me I'm not allowed to apply for a China visa in Indonesia if I'm not a resident.
Can someone please advise?

Thanks.

Yes, the travel agent is right. You can apply for the visa in Uk before the trip. A China visa is usually valid for three months from the day of its issue.

I also have the same problem. I am in Indonesia as a tourist and want to travel to China, does it mean we have to go back to the UK to get a visa??
