I would like to visit Guangzhou on a one day trip, just 12 hours at the most.Can I obtain a China Visa?

You can't get a China visa in Hk airport. You have to do it at the visa office of PRC in HK SAR at 7th Floor, Lower Block, China Resources Building, No.26, Harbor Road, Wanchai.
