About:Chinese Embassy in Australia

Transit in Shanghai via port with cruise ship for less than 48 hrs

We are a group of 4 on a cruise ship from hong lkong with stopover in Shanghai for 2 days before going to Australia. Is a visa required ie does the visa-free policy apply for transiting in Shanghai via seaport within 48 hours?

The visa free policy only applies to those who transit Shanghai by air. You do need a visa for that.
