Letter of invitation to visit Yiwu

Hi there,

So, I am trying to get an invitation letter to visit Yiwu in order to apply for a F visa -to visit travel to the PRC. I finally got a contact whoM can provide me with one. However, they are asking me to send them my name, place of residency and passport number. I find no issue giving my name and address, but is bothers me to give my passport number. Is this a legal thing to ask for someone to get an invitation to PRC?

Please advice..

Thanks in advanced.
