24 hour stay

Hello,

I am traveling this month and will be flying from JFK-PEK for only day before leaving from PEK-BKK. I am guessing my this new policy I will not need a visa. I have an US passport. Has anyone tried this as of yet? I am really nervous about showing up without a visa.
