Location of Three Parallel Rivers of Yunnan Protected Areas

I plan to visit Kunming, Yunnan and some of its surrounding areas including Dali, Lijiang and Zhongdian (Shangri-la) some time by the end of March to early April 2013. I would also like to visit the Three Parallel Rivers (TPR) of Yunnan Protected Areas in Yunnan. However, there is no clear definition as to which areas are covered under TPR. Is Lijiang Old Town and Shangri-la County form part of TPR? What about Haba Snow Mountain, Tiger Leaping Gorge, First Bend of the Yangtze River and White Water Table? What are some of the best places to visit in TPR besides those mentioned above? I just want to make sure that I will be visiting some of the best and correct places covered under this heritage site.

I also understand that the weather is very diverse in Yunnan province. How is the weather and is it the best time to visit all these places during the proposed travel period? How is the weather in one of the danxia sites (Chishui danxia landform scenic spot) located in Guizhou province? Is it also the best time to visit this place during the proposed travel period?

This protected area covers Nu Jiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture and Lijiang District. The Three Parallel Rivers have spectacular scenery that is composed of the rivers, mountains, rare plants, animals and 16 ethnic groups' inhabitation. Those attractions you mentioned are all worth visiting. You can also go to visit the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Lijiang Dongba Wanshen Park, and Hutiao Valley. Actually, April is a nice time for travelling around this area. The temperature varies much between day and night from 8~20C. You'd better bring a piece of warm overcoat.
