If you hold Australian passport, you can simply apply for a 24-hour stay permit if you want to go out of the airport. Visa is not required.

Thanks Jimmy

Do we get the 24 hour stay at the airport or before we fly?

You can get it at the airport. You can confirm this with your airline anyway.
