I have a 15 hr layover in Beijing, 5:30 Am to 8 PM (march end)

Can I get out of airport for sightseeing in beijing (Do I need a transit/travel visa). I am indian citizen with US Visa. What all is there in and around airport to see and visit. I like temples, scenic places, food, monuments etc.
