what clothing is appropriate to wear in beijing, shanghai,xian in the springtime?

I'm traveling to Beijing, Shanghai, and Xian within ten days near the end of March. I will also be walking an average of 16 km a day. What will the temperature most likely be like? What clothes are appropriate to bring for these activities? I will also be attending a formal dinner at a couple's house in Beijing. What are appropriate formal clothes in China?

Jeans, T-shirts, wind coats are enough for traveling these three places, if you are young guys. If not, I suggest you to take thin sweaters, thin coats and jeans.For attending a dinner,  full dress will be OK. If you just plan to make a visit to that couple and have a dinner in their house instead of a dinner party, you just need to avoid sportswear and wear your neat clothes. Hope you can have a nice trip in China.
