invitation to visit my husband in china in march 2013- which documents are needed?

I have been invited  with my two sons, to my husband's university in China in March. Which documents should I submit to the office to get visa and when should I apply? Your prompt and accurate response is highly appreciated.

You need an invitation letter from your husband or his university, copies of his passport, work visa, work permit and residence permit. Marriage certificate and your son's birth certificate should be prepared. Other basic requirements are your passports, application forms, and photo.
