I want my 5 months old baby to have Chinese and Canadian citizenship

I am a Canadian. My baby and wife are now both in China. Can my baby apply for Chinese citizenship first and stay in China for a while (maybe 3 to 10 years ) and then later on my baby applies for Canadian citizenship to come to Canada ? I maybe move back to China to live for a long time later in this year also. Please advise. Thanks

Hi, China does not recognize dual citizenship, so your child can only have one nationality. If your wife is Chinese, your child can apply Chinese citizenship if he/she was not born with Canadian citizenship.

As mention China does not accept dual citizenship but you baby can be Chinese nationality but in the future if you plan to to change her to Canadian Chinese citizenship will be no longer that means she is not Chinese and all the requirements to study purpose or live is under Chinese policy for Canadians
