Can i apply for Family Visit/Resident Permit?

I am American 42 years old, living in Thailand and we are married. Can i apply for Family Visit Visa/ Resident Permit in Thailand or do i have to apply in China? Please advise me. Thanks.

You may apply for a family visit visa in Thailand, and then when you are in China, you can apply for a residence permit from the local immigration office under the public security bureau.
