Shopping and eating in Shanghai

Hi,

I'll be staying at Indigo the Bund. Is it safe for a woman to shop and eat there? If yes, any good recommendation? I would also like to custom made cheongsam/qipao in shanghai cos' heard their workmanship is excellent but will it be troublesome to do so during end Nov? Thank you.

It is generally safe during the day. You can promenade to Yuyuan Garden area or Nanjing Road area for shopping and eating. Well, it is true that the qipao workmanship is excellent in this city. It is ok to make it during the end of Nov.

Thanks Gina for your prompt reply. Do you happen to have any good recommendation for tailor near the bund and also good local food (etc. soup dumpling, hairy crab)? As well as good local shopping for clothings, kids toys, hp cover (crystal kind) etc.. I got 5days in shanghai. Not sure where or how to walk around. Appreciate your advise. Thank you very much.

For local food, Xiaonanguo Restaurant on the fourth floor, No. 2 Building at No. 579, Outer Road. It is famous for the local food.
There is a fabric market on No. 339, Lujiabang Road and it is near the Nancangjie. In the market, you can find many tailor shops and I believe you can find a suitable one there.
For shopping, I advise you to go to the Nanjing Street, which is the commercial street for the city.
Hope these information can help you.
