I note that is says $60.00 here, but I have been told otherwise that this is not the correct price. Please let me know that correct price.

China embassy in Sydney only deals with visa applications from diplomatic, Service or Official passport holders now. If you hold an ordinary passport, you will have to submit your application to the China Visa Application Sercice Center, and thus you have to pay an additional service fee of 58.6 Australian dollars as well.
