Great wall walking route?

Is it possible walk from shanhaiguan (Beginning of the wall) all the way to beijing? I've got a month to kill and it seems like a good idea.
Just wondering if there are any restrictions in place that would prevent me from grabbing a good pair of walking boots and a rucksack and walk the whole distance??
