Irish passport holder living in S. Korea. Only 4 months left on my Alien Registration Card.

If I send my passport home can I have one of my family members apply for a tourist visa for me through the Chinese Embassy in Ireland and then post it to me? I am flying from South Korea to Shanghai in December.
