Hi! I will be in China from jan-june and I will be taking online classes for college, will my laptop work in China and will I be able to use the internet over there? (I will be living in a school dorm teaching english)

Yes, of course. Your laptop will work in China. For the Internet, you can use it here. In my opinion, you can buy wireless router in China and make wifi in your dorm, so that you are accessable to Internet everywhere in your house.
