Invitation letter from relatives in China

Do I need an invitation letter from relatives in China or can I just show them my eticket for the flight, to get my visa?

If you write your purpose in the application form for visiting relatives, you need to provide invitation letter from them. Or you can just apply for tourism with round-trip ticket and hotel reservation (booking of first few nights is ok).
