is a $1000 cdn going to be enough for a 10 days all expense paid tour to China

It is hard to say. It mainly depends on your travel itinerary, including the hotel cost, transportation cost, shopping and dining, plus the attraction entrance price. You'd better bring your credit card or visa card apart from the cash.
