About:Shanghai Travel

Staying in Shanghai for 3 nights 5-8th Dec.

My three children (12,13 and 15) plus myself, are staying for the above three nights on a stopover.

We are hoping to have a cheap, central hotel so as to easily get around. Any hotel suggestions, and days out that would be really appreciated (again - we are budget minded - but want to see some of China as we will not able to go again). My girls want some beautiful chinese clothes, my son loves history. We also would love to see some traditional buildings etc.

Also - are taxi's Ok to travel in (ie registered/not aiming to cheat foreign females etc). Is it easy to get from Pudong to the city center? We had an estimate of private transfer from the holiday booking company and they quoted 172 for a one way transfer from airport to the city!

We fly into Pudong Airport at 1625hrs on the 5th and out again at 2015hrs on the 8th Dec. I really want to make the most of this, so any help would be great :) Thank you.

Sina Hotel (former Pudong Airport Duoladuo Business Hotel) and Baisha Hotel can be suitable for you.
As your girls want some beautiful clothes, Baodaxiang Young People and Childern Shopping Mall in Pudong new district and Pudong Shopping Mall at Changli Road are good choices. The traditional buildings, with Chinese characters? Right, you can go to Zhujiajiao to have a good look.
Don't worry! The taxis are metered, so they will not cheat you. It is generally safe to get one.
From Pudong to the city center? Do you mean from the airport to the city? Well, if so, the taxi fare can be about CNY100 or a little more, actually less than CNY200.
