Do we need the names and addresses of those hotels in order to apply for our visas?

We plan on visiting out daughter who is teaching in China. We have our airline tickets and plan on staying with our daughter at her school in Nanyue in Hunan Province. During out stay we plan on traveling within country with her and also to Hong Kong but do not have firm travel plans yet. We will be staying in hotels and hospices when not with our daughter.
