Hi, Ron. Do you mean Shangri-la and Deqin? If so, they are in Yunnan Province instead of Sichuan Province. The weather in those places is cold during Dec. and Jan. The usual average temperature is about 0~10C. It is OK to travel there but you need to prepare warm winter clothes like down coat. Well, it is extremely cold from Dec to Feb in Qinghai and Tibet Plateau area. The temperature can be down to -15C. You'd better avoid the winter time for visiting those places. It is best for you to visit there in summer time.
