Can i able to travel to shanghai on expired indian passport?

My indian passport is expired and passport renewal is in process. I have renewal application details and file number. Can i able to apply for china visa with my old passport no and passport renewal??? My police varification also completed. Only waiting for passport delivery.

Hi, you can have a try, but as I know they need a passport valid for more than 6 months.
