I want to organise a day trip from Shanghai to visiting Lingyin Temple and West Lake.  Which one should I go first and how much is the taxi fare?

They are not very far from each other. If this is your first trip to Hangzhou, you can take taxi to visit these two places. From train station to the temple, the taxi fare is about 30 RMB and to the lake, it is about 15 RMB.I advise you to go to the temple and then the lake and then go back to the train station.
