About:Badaling Great Wall

North or south side of Badaling easier to climb? Which one steeper and longer?

Say south side is easier (not so steep and shorter) - as I am traveling with an elder person - would it be
possible to take the cable car up to the south side and climb down? Instead of climbing up?

As I know, north side is the mainly climbing side. The cable car is also at the north entrance. Considering about the elder person, you can take the cable car up to the north side.
