Is advance transit visa required for leaving airport at shanghai (stay less than 24 hours ) ?

While returning from US ( Phoenix ) to Delhi, i have a lay off for 20 hours at Shanghai. Is it possible to get transit visa on arrival at the airport?

Yes, if you plan to leave the airport during the stopover in Shanghai, you need to apply for a China transit visa in advance. No visa is available upon arrival.
