About:Yungang Grottoes

Yungang Caves

I am going to arrive to Datong at 6:00am by train. Is it possible to see the Yungang Caves and the Hanging Monastery in one day if I travel only on public buses? Or if I have to hire a taxi for one day what would it cost?

I think you will be in a hurry if you want to appreciate every corner of the two places by public transportation.
I advise you to hire a taxi for one day. It will cost you about 200 RMB or you can join the local tour. So that you can get the English tour guide at the same time.

You can talk to the driver with this issue. It is like rent his or her for you.
They can take you back to Datong for 200 RMB.
