About:China Customs Declaration

Entry custom rules for gold and US DOllar

Hi
I am travelling to chaina on Ist week of Oct-2012 as a tourist with family having 4 years old child.When we enter china , how much US Dollar we can carry in cash per person and also how much gram of gold jewllary (necklece ,bingles & rings) we can carry per person? can we carry our video and still camera with us?

Hi, dear.
5,000 US dollars is permitted. If you have more than this amount, related documents will be needed and you need to declare to the customs.
According to the regulations, if gold, silver and the products made from them are less than 50g (2 ounce), they are duty-free and do not need to be declared. If the weight exceeds the limitation, you should declare it. The amount of the golden products are weighed in a whole instead on per person.
You can take your video and camera with you when you enter China, but I am afraid that you have to pay the tax for both of them.
