About:China Student Visa

What are the exact insurance requirements for studying in China?

On a brochure i have it states

"[...] must possess an insurance of at least RMB400,000 worth (or other currencies equal to this amount) of compensation for overseas medical care and accidental injury"

I only ask because most travel insurance I have checked seems to give sufficient amount for medical care, but would not meet the requirements of RMB400,000 for accidental injury (personal accident on policy).

For student visa application, you just need to provide a physical examination record. About the insurance to study in China, the minimum should include Accidental Injuries and Hospitalization. You can buy from the Finance Office of your University in China before enrolment. The fee is around RMB 600 /year for a study longer than 6 months. For less than 6 months study in China, you can buy before traveling and ask the insurance company for how to use it in China. It must be sufficient to cover Accidental Injury and Hospitalization for the time period of your study. RMB 400,000 may be only the sum insured required by some university.
