About:Chinese Currency & Money Exchange
Does Bank of China charges a fee or exchange US dollars at a LOWER rate than the official rate
... if I walk into a branch to exchange US greenbacks?

I do not think the Bank of China can provide you a lower rate than the official rate when you exchange the US dollars.
