About:Chinese Embassy in New Zealand

Hi, do we have to provide a bank statement now, when we apply for a visa?

If you are a citizen of New zealand, and you are going to apply for the Chinese visa from the Chinese embassy or consulate in your home country. seems that bank statement is not so necessary.
