About:Chinese Embassies and Consulates

British guy living and working continuously in China for 5 years ...

... no trips abroad (ex. for a 1 week holiday in Hong Kong)
Married to a Chinese national for 4 years
Good health
no criminal record of any kind
Own an apartment in China
Fully employed throughout this period
Holder of Foreign Expert Certificate and Z-visa for 5 years
My current age is 47
I can I supply all necessary paperwork, including Chinese employment references, and (lack of any) criminal convictions


I intend to apply for permanent residency in China next year (2013) after my 5th wedding anniversary.
Do you think my application will be successful?

Yes, I think it's possible for you to get the Permanent residence permit of China, but the officers in the local public security bureau has the final say to this. Good Luck!
