In the Han Dynasty, Buddhism and Taoism were very popular. At that time, people pursue kind of inner peace by cultivating the ideology of Buddhism or Taoism.Shakya Muni, the founder of Buddhism and Lao Zi, the founder of Taoism were worshiped at that time to show the piety.
By the way, the present White Horse Temple in Luoyang of Henan Province is a representative of Buddhism built in the Han dynasty.

ZhongGuo(china)people’s religion is complex. we call the Tian as God like your but it's very different to yours 。
like our Tian not as a people always like this world (we think Tian control this universe)it isn't like man but is our nature,so the Buddhism and the Taoism of others all is makeman to follow natural law。and make we happy.
