What is the maximum amount of time allowed to be spent in shanghai on the (L) visa?Are you able to fly to and from other parts of China on this visa?I am planning on staying with my partner who will staying in shanghai on business for 6 months. Would the (L) visa be my only option?Thanks,

To stay with your partner in China, the only option for you is the tourist visa L type. But a single entry tourist visa only allows a maximum stay of 3 months (including two extensions). If you need to stay for 6 months, you can try to apply for a double/multiple entry China tourist visa. You can fly with domestic flights with it, but be clear that leaving for HK or Macao counts an exit from mainland China.
